From a screening standpoint, it is definitely not easy to evaluate students coming from other undergraduate programs.
However, the basic policy of the Graduate Schools is to use the entrance examination to gauge whether or not students will excel after enrolling.
Some universities may have curricula that lean heavily in one direction or another.
Therefore, we place weight on whether students can understand the fundamentals, such as calculus and linear algebra.
During selection, students from other universities seeking enrollment at the Graduate School will be positively assessed for their proactive nature.
We believe that studying the wide-ranging discipline of mathematics in an entirely different environment, even if just for two years at the Master’s level, is a big plus.
Even if your test scores were poor, do not be disappointed.
