クリス・バッド教授の訪問について

クリス・バッド教授(バース大学・英国王立研究所)による講演"Geometric integration and its
applications"が4月2,3日に慶応大学で行われます。応用数学（数値解析）についての講演ですが、その手法には幾何学的なものが含まれており、興味深いものであると思われます。

クリス・バッド教授はバース大学と英国王立研究所で活躍する傍ら、サイエンスコミュニケーターとして幅広く数学の面白さを伝える仕事をしています。今回の来日は7月に日本で行われるRoyal
Institution Christmas Lecturesに関連したものです。

3月26-30日の間、クリス・バッド教授はブリティッシュ・カウンシルに滞在し、26日には慶応高校で、27日には筑波高校で講演を行います。

文京シビックセンター　26Ｆ　スカイホールにてカフェサイエンス
「数学者は何をしてくれたのか？」

Visit of Professor Chris Budd (University of Bath, UK, and Royal Institution)

Prof. C. Budd will give lectures at Keio University on April 2 and
April 3 on "Geometric integration and its applications".  Although the
motivation is applied mathematics, the methods involve ideas from
geometry.  Information on Prof. Budd's research can be found at

Prof. Budd is a well known expositor, and his visit to Japan is related
to the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures, which will be given in Japan
in July 2007 by Prof. Marcus du Sautoy.

During the week March 26-30, Prof. Budd will be a
guest of the British Council.  He will give lectures at Keio High School
on March 26 and Tsukuba High School on March 27.   On March 28 he
will give a public lecture as follows:
