Usually, it's a new official release after each major release from
ocaml, and snapshots at various times otherwise.

Olivier, do you think the code is stable enough for a snapshot?
In particular, version compatibility problems.
I've just checked that at least it compiled under 2.0, 2.2 and 2.4.
And I suppose you've checked 2.6.
(In the past, I made snapshots without checking, but some distributions
seem to package snapshots...)
