For instance, if the GTK 2.6.9 *binary* package has been installed on a system, is the LablGTK code expected to run without problem? What if GTK 2.8.6 binaries are present? Going the other direction (although not as interesting), what if, say, GTK 2.6.2 binaries are all that is present? Or GTK 2.4.14? Answers for this selection of differing (in both directions) major/minor versions should be most illustrative... :) Note that I am not asking anyone to do any testing here - these are really design and architectural constraint issues that I assume the GTK team considers when defining/implementing allowed changes.
