I thought I'd have another go at learning lablgtk and discovered that none of 
the example programs run (they all produce lots of errors and then segfault 
or die). I thought maybe this was a 64-bit problem so I also tried it on my 
32-bit Athlon and I get similar errors.

I'm using stock Debian (testing) with GTK 1.2.10.

Does anyone know of Debian package problems or what might be causing this?

Here are the kinds of errors I'm getting:
