What about having a cronjob or whatever doing daily snapshots of the CVS version, and providing a couple of days on the web site ? I mean you could easily have the last week or so available as tarballs, without compromising the security of the CVS server, and allowing folk to access the latest and greatest stuff if they want Alternatively, as there are less frequent updates than once daily to the cvs server, such a tarball could be trigerred only after each day where commits where made, and the 7 last such days be kept or something.
