Subject: [Lablgtk] How to pass a signal to a lower canvas item?

I have a situation where I have items on a canvas which are being
overlayed by another translucent object.  When a mouse click is on the
translucent object I want to propogate the signal to the item below
that.  Can anyone suggest a way to implement this?
