You are correct.

No: you cannot just relink with gtksourceview 2.x.
At this time only gtksourceview 1.x is interfaced in lablgtk.
There are significant changes to gtksourceview between 1.x and 2.x.
As soon as someone will provide the new stubs for gtksourceview 2.x, 
they will be reviewed and integrated.
For the time being, you can always install both gtksourceview versions 
side by side : just install the Fedora 10 package package called 
gtksourceview
