If you were on a Linux system I would say don't try and compile this stuff from source unless you are very experienced with installing Unix software from source [0]. Instead, install the packages from your Linux distribution (again assuming that you were on Linux). Since you are on Mac, the natural place for getting pre-packaged software is MacPorts. > And then a funny thing is that I actually should have cairo installed on my > machine using "MacPorts", according to attached commands and msg (3). Rather than asking here, maybe you should ask for working Ocaml and lablgtk packages on the macPorts mailing list. As an aside, I have an old Mac that I boot into Mac OSX ocassionally and I have tried MacPorts. My experiences with MacPorts (in comparison to the Ubuntu and Debian Linux distros) has been disappointing (and that is an understatement). MacPorts probably supports common packages like Ruby, PHP and MySQL quite well, but its support for uncommon tools like GNU Octave and Ocaml was abysmall. Whenever I tried to grab things like these they were broken. I since gave up on OSX and macPorts. I don't know if Linux is an option for you, but I can tell you that the pre-compiled packages for ocaml and lablgtk in Ubuntu and Debian are outstanding. HTH, Erik [0] Simple packages are ok, but things like Cairo and lablgtk which have lots of external dependancies are far more difficult. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- Erik de Castro Lopo ----------------------------------------------------------------- "The Internet interprets censorship as damage, and routes around it." -- John Gilmore _______________________________________________ Lablgtk mailing list Lablgtk@yquem.inria.fr http://yquem.inria.fr/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/lablgtk
