pkg_export is a shell script I developped to allow easy
management of software compiled from source. The idea is to put all
the installed files in the same place, and to link them to places they
are expected to be, such as
/usr/local/lib. This way you can easily switch between
two versions of the same package, just by replacing the links.
I have now been using it for about 3 years, on a variety of operating systems: FreeBSD, Solaris, Digital Unix, Linux, IRIX. It should be reasonably portable and bug free, but of course I provide no guarantee.
Here is the man page.
